Item #: SCP-9047
Object Class: Euclid → Apollyon
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-9047 is monitored exclusively via satellite imaging, seismic sensors, and autonomous aerial drones. A permanent exclusion zone with an 80 km radius has been established around the base. No personnel may enter this zone without authorization from at least two Level 4 researchers.
Exploration of SCP-9047’s interior is prohibited following the loss of Mobile Task Force Tau-9 (see Addendum 9047-3). Automated listening stations record acoustic anomalies at the perimeter.
Should SCP-9047’s growth exceed 2% of its total mass within a seven-day period, Apollyon-level contingency procedures are to be enacted. No current methods exist to halt, neutralize, or fully contain SCP-9047.
Description: SCP-9047 is a massive snow-covered mountain in a permanently frozen region [DATA EXPUNGED]. Although it resembles a natural alpine formation, SCP-9047 exhibits multiple anomalous properties.
The mountain’s size fluctuates unpredictably, expanding or contracting weekly or monthly. Recorded vertical growth reaches up to 300 meters; contraction leaves no debris or measurable seismic activity. These changes occur silently, often overnight.
SCP-9047 emits low-frequency sounds, including wind-like moans, rhythmic vibrations, and what appear to be distant human voices. Audio analysis confirms the sounds are inconsistent with natural phenomena. On several occasions, the voices have spoken in unknown languages or distorted human speech.
The interior contains an apparently infinite network of caves and tunnels. Mapping attempts using drones, probes, and autonomous rovers fail; devices either lose signal or report impossible spatial data. Some probes traverse kilometers without changes in elevation, while others report non-Euclidean geometry.
Temperature inside SCP-9047 is inconsistent, ranging from extreme cold to above-freezing conditions despite the surrounding ice.
Addendum 9047-1: Discovery SCP-9047 was discovered after satellite surveys identified a mountain that shifted location between passes. Initial expeditions classified it as Euclid after personnel reported auditory hallucinations near the mountain
